Resumen
Este artículo ofrece un análisis microespacial del cantón de Cartagena (1873) mediante el examen minucioso de la pequeña sociedad revolucionaria para descubrir sus vínculos humanos e ideológicos con un contexto más amplio. Mientras que en el imaginario histórico español la revolución cantonal simboliza el localismo más ciego, el artículo muestra que el proyecto político de los insurgentes no se limitó en absoluto a la región y que, por el contrario, se apoyó en solidaridades inéditas a escala de la nación, del imperio español y del mundo. Siguiendo las lecciones de la microhistoria, utiliza los itinerarios de algunos dirigentes del cantón para hacer visibles estas amplias conexiones. A continuación, se centra en los insurgentes anónimos, hombres y mujeres trabajadores de clase popular, para comprender los motivos y las formas de su solidaridad con mundos distintos al suyo.

Abstract
This article offers a micro-spatial analysis of the canton of Cartagena (1873), examining closely the small revolutionary society to uncover its links, both human and ideological, with a wider context. While in the Spanish historical imagination, the cantonal revolution symbolizes the blindest localism, the article shows that the political project of the insurgents was by no means restricted to the region, and that it relied instead on unprecedented solidarities on the scale of the nation, the Spanish empire and the world. Following the lessons of micro-history, the article uses the itineraries of some renowned (or more forgotten) leaders of the Canton to make these broad connections visible. It then focuses on the anonymous insurgents, male and female workers from popular classes, to understand the motives and forms of their solidarity with worlds other than their own.
