Resumen
Este texto analiza la actividad política y parlamentaria de Mariano Roca de Togores, marqués de Molíns, durante los años cuarenta y cincuenta del siglo XIX. Diputado en todas las legislaturas de la Década Moderada y ministro en varias ocasiones, Roca de Togores fue uno de los principales líderes del partido moderado y un eficaz defensor en las Cortes de las ideas e intereses conservadores. Fue un político realista y versátil que supo adaptarse a diferentes coyunturas políticas sin renunciar a convicciones fuertemente arraigadas: la defensa de la monarquía, el centralismo político o el carácter elitista de la actividad política. Se convirtió en un eficaz creador de opinión al servicio de las ideas conservadoras y contribuyó a perfilar aspectos básicos del Estado liberal.

Roca de Togores was one of the main leaders of the moderate party and an effective defender of conservative ideas and interests in Parliament.
