Resumen
A mediados del siglo XIX el debate en torno a las propuestas de unificación de España y Portugal, el Iberismo, ocasionó debates apasionados en ambos países y propició una r eflexión no solo en torno al alcance de sus relaciones dentro de la construcción de sus respectivos Estados liberales, sino también de su pasado común. La polémica estuvo también presente en el teatro, primero en el drama histórico y más tarde en su actualización posterior, el teatro político. Este trabajo aborda la presencia de Portugal y de temas portugueses en el teatro español a lo largo de esta centuria y muestra cómo su presencia no es desconocida en el imaginario español, prolongándose hasta el siglo XX.

Abstract
In the middle of the 19th century, the debate on the unification of Spain and Portugal, the so-called Iberism, brought about rather passionate arguments in both countries and triggered a reflection not only on the relation between them within the construction of their respective liberal states, but also, on their common history. This polemic was also present in the theatre, first in historic drama and later in its subsequent development, the political theatre. This piece analyses the presence of Portugal and Portuguese topics in the Spanish theatre of that period and shows that it is not unknown in the Spanish imagery and even reaches the 20th century.
